Creates a professional virtual leased line, integrated into the comBOX service bundles.

The needs of modern business (hosting servers, realtime streaming, cloud applications) are increasingly becoming greater, in terms of bandwidth and availability (uptime) of network infrastructure. In addition, professional standard broadband connections, such as leased lines, traditionally offer low speeds at a disproportionately high cost when compared to technologies such as the DSL.

For that reason, the Virtual Leased Line technology has been developed, which underpins the basic functioning of comBOX services: the aggregation of more than one low-cost connection to create a single virtual leased line, which offers greater speed and reliability over traditional leased lines and is ideally suited for professional use.

This technology is based on specific systems and algorithms that intelligently manage the data flows of each individual connection and their aggregation into a single connection.

comBOX network server

Virtual leased line technology functions through the permanent communication between a comBOX network appliance and a comBOX network server, which is a fully-managed virtual server located in European datacentres or on cloud infrastructure. It offers high reliability and guaranteed bandwidth from 100 up to 1,000Mbps depending on the needs of the comBOX services. The comBOX network server connects with each of the comBOX network appliance's WAN connections (DSL/3G) and is, essentially, the other end of the circuit, where multiple connections are transformed into a single one, which in turn communicates with the internet or a Virtual Private Network. Additionally, the comBOX network server is responsible for assigning external IP addresses on the corporate network.

secure networking

Virtual Leased Line technology includes encryption algorithms and authentication protocols to safeguard communication between the comBOX network appliance and the comBOX network server. The use of a comBOX network server and comBOX services is thus solely available to the corporate network users. Data travelling over the different DSL or 3G connections, from the comBOX network appliance to the comBOX network server, is also protected.

smart failover

Low-cost connections (DSL/3G) often suffer many interruptions (downtime) which renders them unusable for certain periods. To improve the availability of corporate networking, comBOX services use the Smart Failover algorithm, which continues to send and receive data over the other available connections when one of them goes down, isolating it and ensuring that the end user does not notice any interruption. The Smart Failover also ensures 100% availability of in-house hosted services on the corporate network (DNS, FTP, WWW, mail, media streaming services). To achieve maximum uptime, it is recommended to use the Smart Failover algorithm together with DSL and 3G connections from different providers.

bandwidth aggregation

Virtual Leased Line technology which uses a special algorithm to aggregate bandwidth and create a virtual leased line whose speed is equal to the sum of the speeds of the individual connections used. The aggregated bandwidth offered by VLL technology is available even for the transfer of a single file, since the data is sent simultaneously utilising all the available connections. The algorithm is self-tuning and adaptive to changes in the bandwidth and quality of the low-cost connections used by the comBOX services. Virtual Leased Line technology (with Bandwidth Aggregation algorithm) is the ideal solution for businesses that require speeds that exceed traditional limits and high reliability, all at a low cost.

data compression

Virtual Leased Line technology supports automatic compression of data sent and received on the virtual leased line. This saves bandwidth and further improves the performance of the corporate network.
